Google News Archive Google started a project in 2006 to digitize old newspapers in both the United States and the world. Although this project ended in 2009 the collection of digitized newspapers are still available for free on their website. This is a massive collection of newspapers that can be of great genealogical value to the researcher. To go directly to the Google News Archive you can click here. To view linked images of the newspapers, use the tables below. NOTE OF CAUTION: Whoever organized the Google News Archive for Google did a very poor job. There are a large amount of organizational mistakes. We have made an effort to correct many of these mistakes. However, many mistakes still exist. You may find newspapers listed under the wrong state or you may find newspapers with the same name, but printed in different states lumped together. You may also find newspapers that appear to have been continuously published over a long period of time but may only have a few issues in the early years with a huge gap in the years between issues. You may also find a large number of years and names of papers that were misread and/or entered incorrectly. United States
