Yakima County: YVGS read the cemeteries in the late 1960’s. They began collecting obituaries from the Yakima Herald Republic about 1970. Those have been kept current. We are also adding obituaries from prior years. Collecting all obits from various Yakima newspapers in prior years is an ongoing project.

Sunnyside Sun/Daily News: Extracted deaths 1919-1928. Images available on computer at YVGS and searchable. Not added to obituary index at this time. Cemetery records may be in the index.
 
Grandview Herald: Obituaries 1930-1936 (none for 1933). Images available on computer at YVGS and searchable. Not added to obituary index at this time. Cemetery records may be in the index.
 
YVGS also read cemeteries in those counties that were once a part of Yakima County. Included are: 
          
Benton County: the western part that includes Prosser & Benton City that were once a part of Yakima County. East Prosser Cemetery was recorded and checked with the Sexton's records. The I.O.O.F Cemetery was recorded in 1974. This cemetery has not been used since the 1950's. . Obits were collected from the Prosser Record Bulletin beginning in 1971. These obits cover Benton City, west to Prosser, eastern Klickitat County (Goldendale east), and the Lower Valley (Sunnyside, Grandview & Mabton).
